Screen resolution

The screen resolution determines the number of pixels the screen is composed of. The higher the resolution the more pixels are displayed, and thus the more contents can be shown on the screen; however, on the other hand the smaller the reproduction is of the content.

The screen resolution, which has been adjusted on the user’s monitor, also influences the way in which the website is presented. Some users opt for a screen resolution of 800 x 600 pixels, others on the other hand prefer a resolution adjustment of 1280 x 1024 pixels.

Although the screen resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels is used the most, Milèstre strives to perfectly present the website to be developed at whichever resolution, both in lay-out and in legibility. The larger the resolution becomes, the larger the letter size in which the text in the website is set needs to be in order to optimize its legibility. For this the use of so-called Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) is indispensable.

Efficient use of DIV html tags and style definitions in the Cascading Style Sheets enables the user to look at the website under construction in varying screen resolutions.

Given a number of preconditions the DIV html tag and CSS have often been applied to this website. This effect can be experienced by means of an adjustment of the screen resolution or the size of the Internet Browser window.
